BJP demands referendum on price rise

Bhubaneswar, July 01: Attacking the Centre on soaring inflation, the BJP today demanded a referendum on the issue of price rise claiming that the UPA government had lost the right to remain in power.

“There should be a referendum on the issue of price rise to enable the people decide if the Congress-led government should continue in power or resign,” BJP stalwart Rajnath Singh told reporters here.

The former BJP president, who was here as part of the party’s nation-wide campaign against price rise, claimed the UPA government has no right to continue as it has become “insensitive” towards the plight of the poor.

Singh accused the UPA government of having failed to initiate a clear policy on Pakistan and said Islamabad’s nuclear deal with China would pose a security threat not only to India and south Asia, but the entire world.
