BJP blames Congress leaders for Naik’s suicide

Bharatiya Janta Party senior leader Ch Vidyasagar Rao accused the Congress leaders of being responsible for the suicide of MBA student Bojja Naik in Warangal.

Addressing a press conference at State BJP Headquarters here on Sunday, Vidyasagar Rao said that the recent statements of Prime Minster Dr Manmohan Singh and Congress spokesperson Renuka Chowdhary on the Telangana issue have provoked the students and youth in the Telangana region. He claimed that while the Prime Minister said the decision on Telangana would be announced only after restoration of normalcy in the region, Renuka Chowdhary said that the Telangana issue had no expiry date.

The BJP leader alleged that such statements have provoked the Telangana youth and Bojja Naik was among those youth and he resorted to the extreme step on Saturday. He asked the Prime Minister to explain as to whose report led him to issue such a statement.

Vidyasagar Rao accused Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar and Governor ESL Narasimhan of sending misleading and wrong reports to the Centre on the situation in Telangana region. He also asked the Centre not to link the Telangana issue with the internal differences within the State Congress.

Meanwhile, the BJP leader appealed the students to restrain from taking extreme steps. He said suicides would not bring statehood for the region. He said the students should live to participate in the statehood agitation and to witness the formation of Telangana. He assured that the BJP would give statehood to the region if it comes to power in 2014 general elections. (INN)
