Uttar Pradesh: In a strange incident, a man named Akash chopped off his wife’s tongue over an argument over dowry and was allegedly held captive for 10 days before she was freed by her family from the house in Barra area of Kanpur district.
The victim in her FIR stated that on November 6, her husband chopped off her tongue in a fit of anger over an argument over dowry. Later she was treated at a local hospital but was held captive by the accused’s family for 10 days, before she was freed by her father on November 15.
The family has also alleged that since the accused’s father is a police officer, police have not taken an action against him. Following her complaint, the SSP ordered the police to take immediate action against the accused and was arrested.
