Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]: Addressing a rally in Mumbai on Saturday marking Janata Dal-United (JDU’s) foray into Maharashtra politics, Bihar Chief Minister and party supremo Nitish Kumar asserted that a citizen of Bihar is never a burden on anyone, instead strives for productivity.
“Biharis are never a burden on anyone wherever they goes. In fact, they (Bihar citizens) give employment to others. This gives me a great feeling of happiness and satisfaction,” Nitish said at the rally.
Continuing to heap praises on the people from his state, the Chief Minister emphasized that those Biharis living in the economic capital are doing particularly well.
Prominent JD (U) leaders from Bihar and other states were present at the rally to mark the formal launch of the party in Maharashtra.
Last month, JD (U) Maharashtra unit Convenor and MLA Kapil Patil Lok Bharti Party merged with the JD (U), making the way for the party to set up a base in the state after Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Karnataka and Kerala.
There are several events where Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray made critical remarks about migrants from the North Indian states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, accusing them of damaging the Maharashtrian culture and not for mingling with them.
In March 2016, Thackeray threatened that his party workers will set afire the auto rickshaws if they were seen plying on roads by a non-Marathi.(ANI)
