Bhopal, December 26: (Pervez Bari) India’s giant Public Sector Undertaking Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, (BHEL), Bhopal unit has won Confederation of Indian Industry’s, (CII’s), ‘Commendation Certificate for Significant Achievement’ for its business excellence initiatives this year.
M K Shakya, GM (Feeders & Quality) along with Dheeman Sen GM (P & D & IT) received the certificate in the inaugural session of the 17th Quality Summit of CII held at Delhi the other day.
CII and Export-Import (EXIM) Bank of India jointly established the award for Business Excellence in 1994 with the aim to enhance the competitiveness of the Indian Industry. The Award is based on the EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) Model for Excellence – a coveted Award for Businesses across the world. The EFQM Excellence Model is a framework for organizational management systems, and designed for helping organizations in their drive towards being more competitive.
Earlier, a high level team went into the details of the Position Report submitted by BHEL, Bhopal unit for the purpose and CII’s Jury for the award had recommended for site assessment of the unit. The site assessment was undertaken in October this year after the consensus meeting held by CII team which comprised top level executives of both public and private sectors.
BHEL won the commendation based upon the company’s demonstrated excellence with respect to its various stakeholders (customer, employees, society and shareholders) through excellent practices in people, processes and partnerships. The commendation also recognizes the company’s strong commitment to Business Excellence through Leadership, focus on processes and systems through people involvement at all levels.
