Hyderabad, October 16: Task Force sleuths today busted two betting gangs operating in Old City and arrested one of its kingpin and four sub agents. Cash of Rs 18, 200 along with satta chits and mobile phones were recovered from them.
Unlike the other satta rackets held so far, the organisers in one of the cases have their own website, http://www.ratanking.com to run the show, police said.
“The website was created for the convenience of the punters (betters). One can know the bid amount and the result of the game within seconds through the website,’’ additional deputy commissioner of police (Task Force) M Sreenivas said.
The website is run by satta organisers from Mumbai. The organisers also provide the facility of sending mobile alerts to
punters.
In their first catch, the sleuths nabbed Md Bakthiar, a scrap businessman from Himayathnagar who is the main agent of the Mumbai-based satta organiser.
Two sub agents, Lateef Khan of Doodhbowli and Md Moinuddin Ansari of Baghlingampally, were nabbed near a hotel at Hussainialam.
Bakthiar runs the show while collection is done by his sub agents who are paid suitably for pooling money from punters spread across the city. “The entire amount collected from punters will be sent to Mumbai,” Sreenivas said.
Meanwhile, two brothers, Md Sadeq Khan and Md Chand Khan from Jahanuma,
who are also sub agents but of another gang, were nabbed by the Task Force sleuths.
“The duo who run a kirana store at Jahanuma have been carrying out the betting racket from their shop,’’ police said.
They are used to giving the amount collected to another agent, Kamal Kumar Gupta alias Kamal alias Pappu of Chelapura, and are paid a handsome commission
for that, Sreenivas said. Kamal is
absconding.
The kingpin and sub-agents were handed over to Hussainialam and Falaknuma police for further action.
