Better roads, amenities in 6 months: KTR

Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao today vowed to address in six months the problems of city roads, manholes, repairs, water, power and other better amenities to public.

At a review meeting at Water Board here after making a visit to Vengalrao Park here, KTR directed the officials to focus on increasing revenue by offering more tap connections in the twin cities. Stating that sewerage cleaning works need safety management facilities, he expressed surprise that only one lakh taps have meter connections which have to increase through a special drive, he said. He asked to increase tap connections with meters and a study on manholes to avoid Bholakpur like incidents.

The officials and staff should coordinate to offer committed services to win the hearts of the people, he said, adding that the departments become self-sufficient by increasing revenues. Government will encourage with rewards, security to sewerage workers, he said. He also said water testing labs will be pressed into service to ensure potable waters to people. The minister warned of serious action if the officials neglected their duties and play with the health of the people. (NSS)
