B’desh appoints Fazlul Karim as new chief justice

Dhaka, February 04: President Zillur Rahman today appointed Mohammad Fazlul Karim as Bangladesh’s next chief justice as his predecessor is set to go on retirement on February 7, a presidential palace statement said.

Karim, the senior most judge of the apex Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, will be the 18th chief justice of the country.

Born on September 30, 1943 in southeastern Chittagong, Karim was superseded twice by his predecessor Tafazzaul Islam and grand predecessor MM Ruhul Amin.
