Commercial Taxes Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today said the Telangana State bandh called by the Opposition parties flopped.
Talking to the media at the Secretariat here, Srinivas Yadav ridiculed the Opposition parties for calling a State-wide protest on a holiday. There was no public response and farmers also not involved in the bandh, he said. He also said no political party with common sense would go in for a Statewide protest on a holiday.
All RTC buses are running as usual and business establishments remained open defying the bandh call, he said. He also ridiculed the Congress, Telugu Desam, BJP and Left parties joining hands for the State bandh. “The Opposition parties are afraid of losing ground and for publicity sake they organized protests”, he observed.
The minister said the farmers too did not attend the protest as the government was implementing welfare measures, he said. “The Opposition parties should shun protests for political gains and instead give support to the welfare measures, he suggested. The Government was committed to address the crop loan waiver problem soon, he added. (NSS)
