Ban on marriage celebrations after midnight: Dy. CM clarifies Government’s stand

Hyderabad: Dy. CM of Telangana State, Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali told that Government has no intention to interfere in the religious matters. “Nikah” is a religious ceremony.

He further told that Mr. KCR is a secular leader and the people of India termed him as the 5th Gandhi. He respects all the religions. The welfare of the people is his prime objective. The purpose of Telangana Struggle was to relieve the people of this region from atrocities. After the formation of TS, Mr. KCR decided to have the progress of all the sections of society as his motto. The manner in which he promoted Ganga-Jamuna culture of Hyderabad has no parallel in the entire country.

Replying to the decision taken by the Muslim clerics in a meeting held by the Chairman of Wakf Board, Mr. Mohammed Saleem to fix the deadline as midnight for putting an end to all marriage celebrations, he clarified that Government has no intention to fix such restrictions.

He also said that there is no possibility of the Government issuing instructions to Qazis to end marriage celebrations before midnight.

He further said that if anybody feels hurt with the decisions taken in the meeting convened by Wakf Board Chairman, he apologizes. He also appealed to the Muslims to finish wedding ceremonies as early as possible.
