Babri Masjid: Tight security in South TN

Madurai, December 05: A day ahead of the 18th anniversary of the demolition of the Babri Masjid, a blanket security cover was thrown over the South Tamil Nadu by the security agencies.

Police said all places of worship, vital installations, important junctions and crowded places like bus stands were brought under the security blanket.

Armed security men were keeping a round-the-clock vigil at historic temples like Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple , Sri Dhandayuthapani Temple at Palani Hills, Lord Murugan Temple at Thirupparankundram and Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple at Rameswaram.

Devotees will not be allowed to carry baggage inside the temples for three days from December 5.

All the entry and exit points into the Southern Districts came under the police scanner.

Similarly, exhaustive security arrangements have been made at the important railway stations and junctions in Southern Districts.
