Azad body for city? cops on full alert

Hyderabad, July 3 (NSS): The city police remained alert with receipt of the information that the family members of slain Naxalite leader Cherukuri Rajkumar alias Azad were planning to bring his body to Hyderabad from Mancherial in Adilabad district for last rites.

Though there was no accurate information that the kin of the slain Naxalite leader were residing in Hyderabad, the police have credible information that they were living in the city for several years. Actually, the native place of the bereaved family was reported to be Krishna district.

According to Intelligence inputs, the family members of Azad have decided to bring the body to Hyderabad as the police have already agreed to hand over the body if the family came forward for it.

It was not known whether the police would hand over the body to the family at Mancherial, where autopsy was conducted or shift it to the place where the family wanted to accept it. The police top-brass strongly feel that handing over the body at Mancherial would give scope for taking out the body in a procession through villages en route Hyderabad.

The Intelligence personnel were busy with zeroing on where the final rites would be conducted by the family, if the body was brought to the City.

If the body was brought to the city, there is a scope for arrival of a large number of people from various civil rights activists to have a final glimpse of the body. Keeping this in view, the police were gearing up to make necessary security arrangements and keep an eagle eye on those who will be visiting the body of slain Naxalite. (NSS)
