Avoid soap, shampoo at Pushkar ghats: Jogu

Minister for forests and environment Jogu Ramanna today called upon the people and devotees coming to holy Krishna Pushkaralu  not to  use soaps and shampoos as they will pollute the  waters.

 

Launching posters, banners of “Krishna Pushkaralu 2016” a mobile application at Secretariat here along with officials, he said that devotees can avoid polluting waters also by reducing the use of plastic bags and use TSRTC buses for safe journey.

 

Pollution Control Board will conduct awareness campaign at pushkar ghats and conduct PHECTDS and DO tests, he said. It was decided to test waters available at the bathing ghats once in three hours to conduct 13 types of tests and inform to the people from time to time.

 

At Gondimalla near Alampur, water testing equipment will be set up for quality as Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is to take a holy dip on Aug 12 at early hours, he said. 100 volunteers of National Green Corps and voluntary organizations will offer services to the devotees at the pushkar ghats.

He also said that wide ranging publicity drive will be taken up to create awareness among the devotees through television channels, Radio, banners, sky-baloons and posters. LED Televisions will be set up at Kachiguda, Nampally and Gadwal railway stations to give pushkar information to the devotees.  (NSS)
