Assembly winter sesson from today TRS, Opposition getting ready to cross swords

The Opposition, especially the Congress and Telugu Desam, are sharpening their arsenal to launch a no-holds-barred onslaught against the TRS Government on various issues concerning the people and the State during the winter session of the Assembly commencing from Friday.

The Business Advisory Committee, which met this morning on the Assembly premises, decided to hold the session till December 30 with three days holidays on December 18, 24 and 25. The Assembly will again transact business for another week days from January 2, 2017. Thus it would sit for 20 working days. Though in the beginning it was decided to hold the session for only a fortnight, the Opposition insisted for 20-day sitting to which Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had agreed.

The Assembly, which will commence the session at 10 am on Friday, would take up a special debate on the first day the issue of demonetization and the hardships being faced by the people because of cash crunch and shortage of small denomination notes. Important issues like the problems being faced by the farmers, Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, fee reimbursement and scholarships to the students, the awful condition of roads in the wake of recent rains, going unabated illegal constructions under the GHMC limits, failure of the State government to fulfill its poll-eve promises like 2bhk houses to the poor and so on are likely to dominate the session amidst fire works with the Opposition trying to go all out in cornering the government.

The Congress as well as the TDP legislature parties held their meetings today to work out their strategies to take on the TRS Government. In fact, the Central leadership of the Congress had advised its party legislators in the State to go full blast in taking on the government with regard to issues confronting the people. Likewise, the Telangana TDP, despite its miniscule strength in the Assembly, seemed bent upon to floor the government on various issues, including the move to construct a new Secretariat and huge expenditure involved in the construction of the Pragathi Bhavan, the residence-cum-office of the Chief Minister in Begumpet.

The ruling TRS on its part is also getting ready to face the Opposition onslaught with suitable replies with facts and figures and thus demolish the game plan of its adversaries. Chief Minister KCR had already directed his ministerial colleagues and also the legislators to do home work and come prepared to the House to take on the Opposition on any issue. Thus all said and done, the winter session of the Assembly is likely to witness a lot of fire works with the treasury and Opposition benches unleashing a volley of missiles against each other. ( NSS)
