Asif Ali Qamar from Hubli secures 2nd rank in CET

Hubli, June 02: Asif Ali Qamar, a student of Chetana PU College here has achieved the second rank in the CET medical/dental stream. Rashmi Yadwad of the same college secured the 9th rank in CET architecture stream. Asif is the son of Dr. K F Qamar, the head of the department of physiology in the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS).

Asif appreciated and thanked his teachers and parents, whom he accredited his success to. He says he did not go to any extra tuition classes, instead studied 6-8 hours a day and made use of the college library to a great extent. He was expecting to be among the top 10, but the second rank was a pleasant surprise to him.

As his father was a teacher in a medical college, he usually opted to take help from his father to clear his doubts. His father was also an alumnus of the Chetana PU College. Asif says his childhood dream has been to be doctor and now wants to study MBBS at KIMS and dreams of specialising in neurology later on. However, his All India Pre Medical Test results are awaited.

Asif has performed very well in his academics and his scores in the previous classes proved it. While he has scored 168 out of 180 marks in Competitive Entrance Test, he got 93 per cent marks in Second PU and 97 per cent marks in SSLC examinations. He did his schooling at the V.S. Pillay School.

Rashmi Yadwad of the same college, who has secured the ninth rank in CET architecture stream, has also secured 879th rank in IIT-JEE examination. She aims to take up B.Tech in electrical engineering in IIT Mumbai, Chennai or Hyderabad and further take up civil services examinations so that she can become an IAS officer in future.

Rashmi said that she worked extremely hard and this helped her secure ninth rank in the CET. She added that she had spent more time to prepare for IIT-JEE and AIEEE. Rashmi Yadwad’s father Shankar Yadwad is the Deputy Medical Superintendent in Karnataka Power Corporation Limited in Raichur.
