Nagpur, November 06: India Against Corruption leader Arvind Kejriwal was greeted with black flags, heckled and booed at a meeting held here Sunday morning, a police officer said.
The trouble erupted after some activists, belonging to Ghantanad Sanstha, raised strong objections to Kejriwal making anti-government statements during the course of his speech at the Vasantrao Deshpande Auditorium.
The activists started booing Kejriwal and shouted slogans even as Team Anna supporters retaliated.
Independent reports said that a scuffle ensued between supporters of both Ghantanad Sanstha and Team Anna outside the auditorium, though police have declined to confirm it.
Attempting to prevent the situation from escalating further, police stepped in and detained at least 15 Ghantanad Sanstha activists, an officer of the Sita-Bardi Police Station said.
Later, adopting a conciliatory approach, Kejriwal said he was ready to discuss any issues with the agitators.
In his public speech, Kejriwal related all the issues pertaining to the anti-corruption movement and alleged the government was not interested in bringing the Jan Lokpal bill or taking measures to tackle corruption.
Referring to the instances of phone-tapping alleged by Team Anna, Kejriwal said that instead of tapping the phones of the anti-graft crusaders, the government should tap the phones of those indulging in corruption.
