Srinagar, Dec. 5 : The Indian Army today paid a befitting tribute with full military honour to its valiant soldier Naik Satish Kumar, who had attained martyrdom yesterday during an operation in Handwara in which two terrorists were also killed.
Homage was paid to the valour and sacrifice of the late soldier in a solemn ceremony held at Badami Bagh Cantonment.
Late Naik Satish Kumar was a member of the Army team that launched an operation yesterday in Boban Watsar forest of Handwara in Kupwara district.
As the forces approached the suspected area where the terrorists were reportedly hiding, they came under a heavy volume of fire in which Naik Satish Kumar sustained gun shots and later succumbed to the injuries.
Pride and honour for the martyr were all palpable as Chinar Corps Commander Lt. General Satish Dua and all ranks of Chinar Corps laid wreath to salute the soldier’s final journey.
Wreath was also laid on behalf of the Northern Army Commander.
The Corps Commander said that such exemplary acts always served as an inspiration to the present and future generations and go on to further steel the resolve of all soldiers. (ANI)
