New Delhi, Dec. 5 : Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal said that the government has started distribution of LED bulbs under the Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) in Uttrakhand and Jharkhand this week.

The Minister took to twitter to convey this information.

“LED distribution has started in Uttarakhand and Jharkhand this week. Track at,” Goyal tweeted.

He said that the government is committed to expanding LED programmes to all states.

The power minister also thanked Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for distributing 50 lakh LED bulbs in the state.

“Congratulations to Hon’ble CM @Dev_Fadnavis as Maharashtra crosses 50 lakh LED bulb mark,” he tweeted.

“Under the leadership of Hon’ble CM @Dev_Fadnavis, Maharashtra is progressing rapidly on all fronts, including power #iLEDtheWay,” he said in another tweet.

According to reports, more than 2.5 crore LED bulbs have been distributed under the government’s massive Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP).

The price of LED bulbs under the DELP is one-third of the current market price. This has resulted in wide-scale adoption of LED bulbs which can significantly reduce our electricity consumption. (ANI)
