“AP ranks first in implementing welfare, development schemes”

Hyderabad, November 08: The Andhra Pradesh government has claimed that the state was first in implementing several welfare and development schemes.

The state government under the leadership of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has introduced several new initiatives to ameliorate the conditions of the poor and downtrodden. The state was the foremost in launching several novel programmes such as The Licensed Cultivators Act, Zero interest to farmers, Stree Nidhi, Social Audit of Mgnregs Scheme and the recently launched Mee Seva programme, an official statement said here yesterday.

”Mee Seva programme being introduced on a pilot basis in Chittoor and Krishna districts was envisaged as a transparent and secured citizen-centric web-based service which will provide convenient access to people in securing copies of land records like adangal, village map, residence and income certificate, integrated caste-nativity-birth certificates, certified copies of registration documents,” it added.

The facility would be firmed up by the end of March to cover initially 20 to 25 services with a target to bring under its ambit as many as 50 services by the end of 2012.

A toll free number system would also be set up so that the applicants could get information.

Andhra Pradesh was the first in the country to introduce an act to provide loan and other benefits to the farmers who raise crops with the permission of the owner or pattadar of land but have no record for such enjoyment. Over 6 lakh farmers are likely to be benefited by the scheme, the Chief Minister said.
