AP priests demand appointment of Pay Revision Commission

Hyderabad, October 29: Demanding appointment of a Pay Revision Commission, priests and employees of Andhra Pradesh Endowments Department held protests across the state today.

Daily pujas performed in the temples were affected as the ‘archakas’ and other staff held protests.

“Government should do justice to us by appointing a PRC.

Government says they are not getting funds from the temples.

But there are several departments which are not generating revenue,” the protesters said.

Endowments Minister Gade Venkat Reddy said that the government had to adjust funds for renovation, maintenance of temples and providing amenities to the devotees though revenue is less.

It is not proper for the temple staff to hold protests as rituals in the temples should not be affected, he said.
