AP gearing up to nail M’rashtra at CWC meet

Hyderabad, May 12: The state government has decided to expose Maharashtra government’s violations with the help of remote sensing pictures taken by satellites before the Central Water Commission on May 12 at New Delhi.

It may be recalled that the CWC had convened a meeting of both states regarding the controversy over sharing of Godavari water.

In this backdrop major irrigation minister P Laxmaiah today held a review meeting with the officials.

The minister said that according to the information available with him Maharashtra had built about 1,700 minor irrigation tanks and the remote sensing pictures have proved it.

Maharashtra was supposed to use only 60 tmc of water in the upstream of Sriramsagar project as per the decision taken in 1975, he said.

Laxmaiah wanted the officials to be ready with all the information to nail the Maharashtra Government at the Delhi meeting.

The minister lamented that the state was losing water due to the projects taken up by Maharashtra and wanted the officials to collect comprehensive information to prove it beyond doubt before the CWC.
