Jagan ups ante against CM

Kadapa, May 12: Upping the ante against Chief Minister K Rosaiah, Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday came out openly against him on the implementation of the Pavala Vaddi scheme in the state. ‘‘We have to hang our heads in shame.

Women are complaining about the implementation of welfare schemes,’’ he said.

Jagan Mohan Reddy’s criticism of the government at a Praja Patham programme at Jammalamadugu came in the wake of Rosaiah lashing out at some ministers for keeping silent even though the newspaper owned by the Congress MP was carrying reports critical of the government. Rosaiah’s outburst led to protestations by some ministers that they were not Jagan loyalists and that they supported the chief minister’s leadership but it did not cut any ice with Rosaiah who has been feeling sour that his ministers would not rise in his defence whenever there are attacks on his government either from the Opposition or from their own party. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who had been reticent on his father’s successor for some time now, broke his silence on his home turf of Kadapa, indicating that he is inclined to take a collision course with the chief minister.

Jagan Mohan Reddy, before he set off on the first leg of his Odarpu Yatra last month, had a one-on-one meeting with Rosaiah where he explained to him that his mission was apolitical and that nothing much should be read into it. In reality, the yatra turned out to be exactly the opposite of what was promised.

At the Praja Patham programme, the Kadapa MP told the people that they could count on him and that he would work hard to see his father YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s aspirations become a reality. Imitating his father’s diction and famous dialogue ‘madama tippakunda’, Jagan said he would bring pressure on the government to rectify the lapses.
