AP Endowments Minister resigns on Telangana issue

Hyderabad, March 03: Andhra Pradesh Endowments Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao today resigned from his post on the raging Telangana issue in the state.

The Minister had reportedly sent his resignation letter to AICC president Sonia Gandhi, sources close to the Minister said.

However, he has not forwarded the same either to Governor ESL Narasimhan or Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, official sources said.

Though Mr Rao was among the few ministers who had expressed unhappiness over the allocation of portfolios by the new Chief Minister, the immediate provocation appears to have been triggered by certain provocative remarks by a senior Congress MP from the Seema-Andhra region K Sambasiva Rao who had allegedly taunted the Telangana protagonist and the Minister of being power hungry and latching on to the ministerial posts ”as they cannot stand being out of power for even an hour”.

Mr Rao did not attend the state assembly which has been boycotted by the MLAs of the ruling Congress, Telangana Rashtra Samiti(TRS), Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
