Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today announced Rs 50 lakh cash incentive to Mr Gangan Narang who won Bronze medal in Olympics Shooting (10 m Air Rifle Shooting), first medal for India. The Chief Minister congratulated Mr B S Narang, father of Gagan Narang, who was called on him at Secretariat here and he said, ‘We are very proud. All best wishes for Gangan’. The Chief Minister also stated that the State Government is contemplating a ‘Model Sports Policy’ after convening a meeting with eminent sports personalities after the completion of on going Olympics. It will be model for all over the country, the Chief Minister added. It may be mentioned that the state government given Rs 25 lakh cash incentive s to Ms Karanam Malleswari for winning Bronze Medal in 2000 Olympics.
Mr Gagan Narang has been given cash incentives of Rs 191.50 lakh by the state government for winning different championships like–Asian Games 2010, Commonwealth games 2010. He said the state government has disbursed recently long-pending dues of cash incentives to the tune of Rs 4.5 crore to 452 eminent sports personalities who won medals and championships. UNI
