Anti Terrorist Squad to probe ISI agent’s case

Lucknow, September 15: The Uttar Pradesh government today transferred to Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) a probe into the arrest of a suspected ISI agent in Kanpur.

“The probe has been transferred to ATS, which will now take up the case. ATS will be seeking remand of the arrested ISI agent tomorrow,” Additional Director General, (Law and Order), Brijlal told reporters here.

In a joint operation, the ATS and state police had arrested Imtiyaz Ali Siddiqui alias Imati Babu from Bhaunti area in Kanpur on Friday.

He was arrested based on inputs that an ISI agent was passing on information relating to the army to agencies in Pakistan.

During interrogation, he revealed that he came into contact with the ISI in Karachi last year where he had gone to meet his sister.
