Anti-RSS Protests: BJP Criticises Rosaiah’s Participation

Hyderabad, November 13: BJP sharply criticised Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah for participating in a protest

organised by ruling Congress against the reported remarks of former RSS Chief K S Sudarshan against Sonia Gandhi.

“The Chief Minister participating in a dharna is an oddity. Probably, he took part in the dharna on the call given by his

party. I don’t know what (police) restrictions were in force there. The government should clarify on the matter,” senior BJP

leader M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters here today.

“There is no need at all to hold a dharna on this issue because, RSS and BJP already said they don’t agree with the comments

reportedly made by Sudarshanji. Congress and Sonia Gandhi are our political rivals and not foes,” Naidu added.

Incidentally, the Chief Minister participated in the protest at a place where police imposed prohibitory orders under Section

144 of CrPC.

“The main reason for these nation-wide protests by Congress is the desire to defame RSS. There are protests across the

country against Congress’ attempts to implicate some RSS leaders in terror cases. They have angered Hindus by using the word

‘Hindu terror’. Congress wants to divert people’s attention from this,” Naidu said.

Naidu alleged that Congress has been adopting a “3-D” formula of “divert, defame and destabilise”.

“It is diverting people’s attention from Congress’ failures, defaming opposition leaders and destabilising opposition governments,” he said.

Sharply attacking Rosaiah, state BJP president G Kishan Reddy alleged that the Chief Minister violated the prohibitory orders imposed in the area by city police.

“The Chief Minister is supposed to safeguard Constitution and implement rule of law. If he himself violates the law, what about others?” he said.

Meanwhile, bureaucrat-turned-politician and Lok Satta Party founder N Jayaprakash Narayan also criticised Rosaiah over the issue.

The Chief Minister took part in the protest organised by the state Congress at Basheerbagh here over the derogatory remarks made against the Congress president by former RSS Chief K S Sudarshan.

Criticising Sudarshan, Rosaiah said he had come to express solidarity with the party leaders and activists.
