Hyderabad, November 16: TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao today demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government take steps to resolve the Hyderabad free zone issue in 15 days.
“The state assembly had passed the resolution on free zone issue earlier this year. The state government has not done anything to get it accepted by the Centre. If they are sincere, the Chief Minister should immediately lead an all-party delegation to Delhi and resolve the issue in 15 days,” he told reporters.
The state government should postpone the scheduled written examination for recruitment of sub-inspectors as demanded by the students of Osmania University and not undertake any recruitment, he said.
“When I demanded that the Chief Minister lead an all-party delegation on the free zone issue, Rosaiah said that I should go to Delhi. My information is that the Centre is awaiting state government’s feed back. Rosaiah need not have false prestige. He should take the all-party delegation to Delhi,” Rao said.
Telangana leaders from ruling Congress, TDP, TRS and other parties met state DGP K Aravinda Rao over the issue yesterday and urged him to postpone the written exam.
The students in Telangana have been demanding that the exam be not held now. They allege that justice will not be done to them if Hyderabad remains a free zone for recruitment.
Hyderabad should be a part of Zone-6 that comprises other Telangana districts, they said.
As required by law, the government should get the Assembly resolution on Hyderabad free zone issue accepted by the Union Government. The assembly resolution states that Hyderabad should not be a free zone for police recruitment.
