AMU team visit off-campus site in WB

Aligarh, July 18: A team of Aligarh Muslim University officials led by Vice Chancellor P K Abdul Azis today visited Murshidabad in West Bengal for on the spot assessment of the 350 acres of land donated by the state government for the proposed off-campus of the university.

The off-campus of the university in West Bengal would come up in Murshidabad. We have visited the site for on the spot assessment, Azis told PTI over phone from Kolkata.

Describing his yesterday’s meeting with Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharaya as “fruitful”, Azis said, “The state government’s response was very positive…we hope the centre would commence by 2011.”

The state government has also indicated its willingness to provide “financial” aids for the speedy implementation of the project, he said.

The Centre has already sanctioned an initial amount of Rs 25 crores for the centre.
