Kurnool, October 18: Refused money to buy liquor, a man brutally murdered his mother and wife with a pestle in Yemmiganur town on Saturday.
Vadde Erranna (31), a daily wage worker and an alcoholic, used to pick up argument with his mother Nagamma (49) and wife Venkatalakshmi (28) after consuming alcohol.
According to police, Erranna picked up a quarrel with the women after they refused to give him money to buy liquor last night.
Hours later, he smashed the head of his mother with a pestle. When Venkatalakshmi intervened, he slammed the pestle on her killing both of them instantaneously.
The tragic incident took place in Uppari Colony in the town.
Subsequently, he walked into the police station and confessed to the crime.
Police took him into custody and visited the scene of offence where both victims were found lying dead in a pool of blood.
Adoni DSP Wilson Babu said the accused appeared mentally disturbed. “We will probe the case in depth,” he said.
Locals said that Erranna’s father died five years ago distressed over his son’s behaviour.
