Washington, December 04: Al-Qaeda is helping and providing assistance to Lashkar-e-Taiba in launching terrorist attacks in India with the objective of provoking a conflict between India and Pakistan, US Defence Secretary Robert Gates said today.
“Al-Qaeda is supportive of Lashkar-e-Taiba…. Al- Qaeda is providing them with targeting information and helping them in their plotting in India, clearly with the idea of provoking a conflict between India and Pakistan that would destabilise Pakistan,” Gates told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
LeT is balmed for the Mumbai terror attacks that killed 166 people, including foreigners.
