Visakhapatnam, October 07: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Inspector General(DIG) Visakha Range Soumya Mishra yesterday Inaugurated the One day Convention against Criminal attacks on girl Students in the State.
Speaking after inaugurating the Convention here organised by the All India Mahila Samskritika Sangam(AIMSS) and the All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO), She said the knowledge is power. So awareness among girls is necessary to safeguard against victimisation. Lack of preparedness leads to harassment.
She made a few suggestions to the girl students. They include If anyone harasses or eveteases, react immediately and don’t be meek, so that the perpetrator will not make any advances. When a person is showing an undue attention to you, inform to elders immediately so that they can give you moral support and rise the level of confidence in you. By doing this, acid attacks and stalking can be brought down. She also advised the student community to concentrate on their studies and not deviate their mind towards films.
According to her personal experience, education is the real wealth. ”As a woman citizen of this country, we should help others who are being harassed if we come know about it,” she said.
Several Collage Students and the Convention State Secretary Ch.Prameela and AIMSS State president Govinda rajulu and others participated in the convention.
