Chennai, March 07: With its morale low after a string of defeats, AIADMK will be looking to a confidence-booster in the March 27 by-election to Pennagaram Assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu, taking on arch-rival ruling DMK.
In a departure from contesting elections in alliance with with either of the two major Dravidian parties, PMK has jumped into the fray on its own making it a four-cornered contest along with actor-politician Vijaykant’s DMDK.
With just a year to go for assembly polls, DMK will be looking to continue its winning streak in bypolls since it was voted to power in 2006. It is banking on its government’s populist schemes for a smooth sail.
AIADMK, which is fielding T R Anbazahagan, has not yet started the campaigning.
