Karachi, September 08: Ahead of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa, Pakistan Twenty20 skipper Shahid Afridi has decided to skip some local tournaments after sustaining an ankle sprain during the conditioning camp in Lahore.
Turning out for the hosts, Afridi, who is also the vice-captain of the national team, has decided to give the quarterfinals of the Dr Muhammad Ali Shah night Twenty20 tournament a miss due of the ankle problem.
“I got a hit on the ankle on the last day of the camp and I don’t want to take any risks because we have an important tournament like the Champions Trophy coming up,” Afridi said.
He said he decided against playing the local event as he wanted to give his ankle some rest before the second phase of the national camp which begins in Karachi from September 12.
