African Swine fever: China reports new outbreak

Beijing: A new African Swine fever outbreak is reported from China in the capital city Beijing as well as Shaanxi and Heilongjiang provinces the Agricultural Ministry confirmed today.

The outbreak is reported from a farm with 9,835 pigs of which 17 are dead due to the fatal disease in the Tongzhou district, according to an official statement published on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

However, the ministry added the disease does not affect people, Reuters reported.

A similar highly contagious outbreak was reported on a boar farm in Heilongjiang which killed 77 of a total of 375 animals, the agriculture ministry added.
