Doha: Meeting was held in Doha, Qatar, between US diplomats and top Afghan Taliban officials. According to reports coming after a Friday meeting, Washington has agreed to discuss bringing its troops home and end America’s 17-year war in Afghanistan.
Conditions to bring about the end of the US’ 17-year war in Afghanistan, were discussed during Friday’s preliminary talks. As reported by Al Jazeera, US special envoy to Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad discussed the matter with Taliban.
An Afghan Taliban official on the condition of anonymity informed that six US delegates arrived in Doha to have a meeting with Taliban leaders and agreed to discuss all issues, including the pullout of foreign troops.
Taliban were demanding peaceful resolution of almost two decades of conflict in Afghanistan, including the complete pullout of all American military personnel.
