Afghan govt looking for peace with Taliban

Washington, June 21: In order to bring peace in the war-torn country, Afghanistan government is leading all reconciliation efforts with Taliban, country’s top diplomat said here today.

“Everybody is saying that it (peace talks with Taliban) should be Afghan lead, which means that everything should be done through the Afghan government channel. Right so when President (Karzai) is saying that our friendly countries are engaged based on this Afghan lead principal that means they are in the coordination among them,” Afghan Ambassador to the US, Eklil Ahmad Hakimi, told PTI.

He said the recent remarks of President Karzai about US holding peace talks with Taliban were misinterpreted by the Western media.
