Hyderabad, August 17: As many as 256 private engineering colleges across the state have plunged into crisis by recording less than 100 admissions in the recent Eamcet counselling.
While five colleges failed to get even a single student and had zero admissions, about 44 colleges had single-digit admissions with less than 10 seats.
Similarly, 96 colleges had only between 11 and 50 seats filled. A whopping 116 colleges had only 51-100 seats taken up.
Another 81 colleges had admissions in the range of 101-150, 75 colleges had 151-200 admission, 65 colleges had 201-250 admissions, 90 colleges had 251-300 admissions, 69 colleges had 301-350 admissions, 24 colleges had 351-400 admissions.
However, in 31 colleges 401-500 seats were filled. While another 21 colleges recorded admissions in the range of 500-600, only three colleges got admissions in the range of 601-715.
According to managements of engineering colleges, about 256 colleges which witnessed less than 100 admissions are destined to down shutters as it would be not be financially viable to run these colleges.
