Irrigation and Marketing Minister T Harish Rao today directed the officials to give better price in two days to the farmers who sold maize at Shadnagar market. Inspecting a market yard at Shadnagar here with officials, he expressed concern at the failure of the officials for failing to make payments in time.
The minister got furious when he came to know that only Rs 66 lakhs amount paid against Rs 4.83 cr worth maize procured the farmers. He pulled up the officials for the delay and sought to know what they are doing. Harish Rao directed to take action against marketing, cooperative and Markfed staff for negligence and give a report after an inquiry. The minister directed to cut increment of market committee secretary.
He started a purchase center for red gram and laid foundation for Rs 4 cr worth development works at the market. The minister warned of serious action if the officials failed to make all payments to the farmers in just three days. So far we have started 111 red gram purchase centers, procured Rs 284 cr worth maize, and to pay Rs 100 cr he said. (NSS)
