New Delhi: Delhi government sized around 450 liters of acid when it conducted a raid on six godowns of gingers located near India’s largest wholesale vegetable market, Azadpur.
According to the report by NDTV, this acid was being used to wash ginger so that the exterior of it would shine up.
After the raids, it was revealed that they used to wash rotten and old ginger with acid as customer prefer ginger which looks attractive.

It is also reported that 1 liter of acid is used to wash 400 kg of ginger. After washing with acid, it is washed with water to remove rotten parts of the ginger.
According to doctors, if such gingers are consumed regularly, can lead to cancer formation.
