Acid Attack Victim Wants Govt To Order Probe

Hyderabad, September 26: Mr Veluri Sirnivasa Reddy, an advocate from Vijayawada, has demanded the State government to order an inquiry into the acid attack on him in 2008, and take action against the culprits. He alleged that Ms Lagadapati Padma, wife of Vijayawada MP Mr Lagadapati Rajagopal was behind the incident. He urged the State government to provide security to him, as he suspected threat to his life from the MP’s family.

Speaking to media persons here today, Mr Srinivasa Reddy said that the police had registered a case against Mr Akula Raghuvendrarao, Mr Katta Venugopal, Mr K, George and Mr Akula Ravishankar under 448, 307, 326 and 129 sections in crime no.107/2008 at Suryaraopeta Police Station in Vijayawada.

He alleged late P. Upendra, former Union Minister, and his daughter Ms Padma were behind the attack on him. He said that Ms Padma suspects that he was behind the marriage of Ms Janaki Iyar and Mr Lagadapati Rajogopal; but actually, he did not know anything about it.

He said that he would present a memorandum to the Home Minister Ms Sabita Indra Reddy, urging for action against the culprits behind the attack on him. (NSS)
