Hyderabad, October 16: Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Sunday organized a protest rally in Osmania University condemning the arrest of student leaders, who expressed solidarity with the three-day Rail Roko agitation call given by Telangana Political Joint Action Committee demanding separate Telangana.
Raising slogans against the Centre and State governments, the ABVP activists burnt the effigy of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy near Arts College in the OU Campus. The activists demanded that the government immediately release the arrested students without any pre-conditions.
Condemning the style of functioning of Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy, the activists alleged that the DGP should be held responsible for making provocative speeches and for treating the students as street rowdies. They accused the police of foisting false cases against the student leaders and arresting them indiscriminately. They warned that the state government and Chief Minister would be held responsible for serious consequences if it fails to release student leaders unconditionally.
Meanwhile, the Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee on Sunday called for `Chalo Sithaphalmandi’ agitation as part of second day Rail Roko agitation. (INN)
