Mumbai, July 31: Bhramarlal JoshiAHMEDABAD: Age is just a number for Dr Bhramarlal Joshi. This 81 year old is all set to re-marry next week with his new bride. Dr Joshi could be the oldest man in the state to give his bio-data at a local marriage bureau two months ago looking for a bride. His wife had died of an illness when she was 75 and Joshi decided to marry again. “I am fit, absolutely healthy in all departments. I earn a handsome pension of Rs 30,000 per month and am financially stable, own a bungalow and a car.
So what if I’m at the sunset of my life, it would be nice to spend last years of my life in good company,” said Joshi. After deliberations with over six eligible brides, this father of six grown up children, three boys and three girls, has finally settled for a 62-year spinster who lives in Vadodara with her nephew and his wife. The woman is class X pass-out. Joshi taught for 30 years in Swaminarayan Arts College and was a visiting lecturer in Gujarat University
for 25 years. He loves to travel and is planning to visit new places after his wedding. He has the full support of his son and daughter-in-law who is a doctor. They live with him in his plush house in Paldi.
“We had earlier shortlisted a 52-year-old widow for Joshi whose daughter is pregnant. But she wanted to get married after her daughter’s delivery, three months later, but Joshi was not ready to wait,” said Natubhai Patel of Vina Mulya Amulya Sewa, a marriage bureau with a dedicated wing for senior citizens. Patel says among the 33 senior citizen couples the bureau brought together, Joshi is the oldest. The last senior-most man was a 73-year-old retired railway employee. “We believe that age should be no bar for love or marriage,” said Patel. Joshi has promised to give half his pension to his would-be wife after he dies and said she could live in his home forever.
