Mumbai: The Indian Coast Guard on Monday rescued six sailors from a tugboat, ‘Revti’ after it capsized in the Arabian Sea off Worli, here on Monday, officials said.
An aerial and surface search was on to rescue one missing sailor Abdul Azeez, 53, of Kolkata.
The ‘Revti’, with seven crewmen, was sailing from Mumbai to Tarapur, when it capsized throwing the crew into the sea.
Following a distress call, the ICG Amartya — a fast patrol vessel on a surveillance mission — was diverted to rescue them.
The ICG ship reached the sinking vessel around 11 am and rescued the six crewmen and provided them necessary medicare. All are stable now.
The rescued crewmen are Saleem Siddique; Shanu Kumar (19) from Patna in Bihar; Rashid Quasim Sorathiya (38) and Tonoy Chalak (22), both from Midnapore in West Bengal; Ramesh Keni (55) and Dilip Yadav (29) from Mumbai suburbs.
