Beijing, May 31: Six people died and seven others fell seriously ill after they mistakenly ate poisonous plants in China’s northwest Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
The victims, all workers at an iron mine in Toli County in Tacheng Prefecture, fell ill after they ate potherbs they had mistaken for celery yesterday, state-run news agency quoted a county government spokesman as saying.
Four of the victims died on the way to hospital. Two others failed to respond to treatment and died last night.
As of today, conditions of seven others were critical.
