51-yr-old woman robbed of valuables worth Rs 2.24 lakh

Mumbai, December 17: A 51-year-old woman was allegedly robbed of valuables worth Rs 2.24 lakh by three armed people, including the security guard of her society, at knife point at Santacruz, a western suburb.

The security guard of the South Home society and two of his associates last evening barged into the house of Zaheera Shabbir Tambawala and allegedly assaulted her. They even demanded to hand over the key of cupboard at knife point, police said here today.

One of the wanted accused removed cash worth Rs 90,000, gold jewellery valued at Rs 1,26,000 from cupboard and a mobile phone worth Rs 5,000 before fleeing with booty aggregating Rs 2.24 lakh. A case of robbery has been registered and a search operation had been launched to nab the accused, police added.
