A lavish display of wealth, particularly during a time of cash crisis.
NAGPUR: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s daughter Ketki, the youngest of his three children, tied the knot with Aditya Kaskhedikar, who works with Facebook in the US.
According to a report in The Hindustan Times report, over 10,000 guests, most of them includes his Cabinet colleagues and other VVIPs were present on the occasion.
It was also reported that Gadkari has brought on board 50 chartered flights to ferry his guests for the marriage ceremony.
The poor are struggling to get Rs 2.5 lakh for weddings post demonetization announcement but our politicians are able to afford such lavish weddings.
Congress spokesperson Gaurav Gogoi on Monday alleged crores were spent on the wedding of Union minister Nitin Gadkari’s daughter and demanded BJP should make public details of expenses made.
Gogoi also alleged that it shows the “wide disconnect” between the BJP and the people of the country. “It also shows there is one law for the rest of the country and the prime minister has set aside a different law for BJP leaders,” he said. “The people of India are hurt by the insensitive and ostentatious display of wealth and they will reply in due course of time,” he said.
