New Delhi, January 14: A 25-year-old man was arrested here for allegedly impersonating as a policeman and cheating several people by promising them auctioned vehicles of Delhi Police at a cheap rate, police said today.
Ashwani Kumar Sisodia, who hails from Basti in UP and presently residing in Jehangirpuri, was caught from near GTK Depot in north-west Delhi yesterday while he was having an argument with some auto drivers.
“Sisodia was wearing police uniform when we caught him.
He was posing as Head Constable Ramesh Chand,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) N S Bundela said.
Police also recovered a complete Delhi Police Uniform of Head Constable rank, fake identity card, fake election card and 12 electronic items purchased by him from the money earned by cheating people.
The arrest came following complaints from several people about being cheated by a “Head Constable”.
