2,000 Congress activists join YSR Congress in Nalgonda

Nalgonda, March 27: The first meeting of YSR Congress in Nalgonda got off to a flying start with the participation and crossing over of many Congress activists into the fledging organisation floated by former Kadapa MP Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy.

The meeting resolved to strengthen the party at the village level, install party flag posts in all villages across the State and to strive for ensuring that Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy becomes the Chief Minister in 2011 itself. Pulla Padmavati, MLC, was the chief guest.

Also present were her husband Pulla Bhaskar and Vasireddy Padma, who joined the party from Praja Rajyam, E. Devaiah, former Suryapet MLA and A. Ravinder Reddy, Narketpally ZPTC.

About 2,000 Congress workers, including 200 leaders, joined the YSR Congress, watched by a packed gathering at Bandaru Gardens. There were a good number of physically-challenged persons too in the audience.

K. Shiva Kumar, State vice-president, Padma, S. Satyanarayana, in-charge, YSR Charitable Trust, spoke.

They expressed confidence that the party, which took off in Nalgonda district, would sweep the elections in Telangana, going by the response to the meeting.

Rally organised

Earlier, the party activists took out an impressive rally from Nagarjuna Degree College to the venue. Ms. Padmavati unveiled the party flag post near the college.
