Hyderabad, July 17: Two robber gangs were arrested and property worth Rs 25 lakh, including 10 bikes, was recovered from them.
Shaik Akram alias Baba hailing from Godavarikhani in Karimnagar district was held at the General Bazar while he was trying to dispose of stolen gold. He was involved in 17 burglaries, a couple of two-wheeler thefts and a chain-snatching. Five members of Akram’s gang, Manoj Kumar of Adilabad, Mukesh Kumar Chowdary, Babulal Chowdary, Dalaram Chowdary and Misra Ram (all from Rajasthan), had already been nabbed. Another member, Vijay Kumar, also from Rajasthan, is absconding.
City police commissioner AK Khan told newsmen that 10 non-bailable warrants were pending against the accused in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Bangalore and other towns. “Akram and Manoj Kumar Vyas were earlier convicted in 80 cases. Akram revived his criminal activities after coming out of the prison,” Khan said.
One kg gold ornaments, one kg silverware, a laptop, digital camera, handycam and several mobile phones were seized from him.
“The accused were selling away the stolen property in Godavarikhani and Mancherial,” Khan said.
A four-member automobile thief gang was busted by the Trimulgherry police.
“The gangsters have a passion for thefts and they chose to steal Passion Plus bikes,” Khan said adding that the particular vehicle was an easy prey for thieves.
The four arrested are: K Nagaraju and Shiva Kumar (brothers), B Mahesh and M Yadagiri. The brothers, painters who stay at Begumpet, teamed up with the other two and stole 12 bikes from parking lots and temples in Mahankali, Bowenpally, Karkhana and Trimulgherry areas.
