Guntur, March 04: A two-day job mela kicked off on the premises of Guntur Engineering College at Yanamadala village.
College chairman M. Nara Hari Rao and principal K.L Narayana said that more than 1,500 students from all over the State registered for the job mela.
Major IT and ITES companies like Genpact, Hacket Group, Abott, Horizon, Trainzent, BPL, Emos, Span, Solarsoft, Angel Broking and Cadila came down to the campus. Screening tests were conducted and the short-listed candidates were called for interviews.
Campus placement officer M. Venkatesh was also present.
Youth festival
An inter-collegiate youth festival – Yavanika-2011 – is being held on the premises of Chalapathi Institute of Engineering & Technology (CIET) at Lam here on Friday. The festival features competitions in sports, cultural and technical events. Inspector-General of Police, Guntur Range, Harish Kumar Gupta, will inaugurate the festival. V-C, Krishna University, M.K. Durga Prasad, would be chief guest for the valedictory to be held in the evening. Associate professor, IIT-Chennai K. Srinivasa Reddy would be guest of honour.
